Lolita 52 weeks part 4

Lolita 52 week challenge part 4

Whats in my closet that I've not worn yet

This is a good question!
I wanted to do this challenge because one of my aims this year is to wear a lot of my unworn items. Like every lolita there are always things I want to buy but when I have so many unworn dresses I feel bad for wanting more when I don't wear what I have.
I seem to have an awful lot of unworn items and I'll show you my main pieces that have yet to see the light of day.
I'll use photos from my EGL wardrobe post because they are better than the ones I took for this today.

IW charles crown
I plan to wear this one at the weekend

IW classical kitty
I want to wear this in the summer, I haven't had it long and its not been warm enough.

Jane Marple crown stripe skirt
I love this but coordinating it is hard, I don't seem to have the right shoes.

Alice and the Pirates hymn JSK in navy
I'd been after this for a long time and bought it at the end of last year.
I just need to find an excuse to wear it, maybe at a meet up?

Juliette et Justine Cadre du Chat
I can't believe I haven't worn this yet!!!
I bought it during the first release too so I have no excuse.
I have plans to wear it soon for a friends birthday (we both have it)

Dream dress!
Juliette et Justine Le Cachet Sculpte du Bouquet
I have only had this a short time,I'm considering wearing this or Parfait et un Manage to a big meet up.

Juliette et Justine parfait et un manage
I've had this for about 6-7 months, the print is beautiful.
I think its going to be my first choice for the big Enchanted event in April

Innocent World Lotta skirt
Another fairly new addition
I'm still working on ways to coordinate this.

Lief My Tart jsk
I like the coord I put together for this so I'm certainly going to wear it soon.

Btssb Rose Candle OP
I got this cheap from the auctions because its missing its belt and brooch.
I love this print, it was one of my first dream dresses when I first started buying brand.
I have no occasions in mind to wear this one yet.

Innocent World Rothenburg skirt
For some reason I skipped reserving anything from this series (I must have been mad)
I finally got a skirt, my preference would have been for a black JSK but its actually quite nice in brown.
I have thought about wearing this a few times so In know it will get worn soon.

Alice and the Pirates Royal Crowns tea package
I had this for Christmas off my partner <3
I was going to wear it but in the end I wore something else I had new.
I love the coord so I plan to wear it to a meet at some point

St Tears lac d'Cygnes
I have actually worn the skirt for a casual Mori girl coord but I've not worn it as a set yet.
Hopefully I'll wear it in the summer because its light.

I have 27 dresses and 3 skirts that I've worn, so all the items here represent a fair bit of my wardrobe.
I have definite plans for some but not others yet, I aim to have worn most of these by the end of the year (if I still have them)

Edit: I've already sold some of these or about to....
I'm so bad when it comes to buying and selling.

Life style Lolita, 52 week challenge part 3

Lifestyle lolita

What is a lifestyle lolita?

and do I consider myself to be a Lifestyle lolita?

I found it hard trying to answer this weeks topic. I've never considered myself to be a lifestyle lolita nor do I go out of my way to make sure everything I do is related to lolita somehow. However, I guess that it doesn't rule out any habits or hobbies I have that could be considered

I've looked into the definitions or rules and found a lot of different opinions about what make a lifestyle lolita.
F Yeah Lolita has some posts including this one about the notion of a pure maiden.

Now to the question, do I think of myself as a lifestyle lolita?
The answer is no not really but I do think I do some of the things that would be considered as a lifestyle lolita be they behavior or pastime.

princess-living. has a short list of things a lolita lifestyler might do or rules she might follow which I have copied below. I found the list to encompass the ideas I have about what makes a lifestyle lolita

Set of behaviors:
Be caring to everyone. Always have a pleasant attitude. Never forgot your manners. Be thoughtful of your words and actions. Be lady-like in everything you do.

Values:
honesty, creativity, beauty, happiness, confidence, grace, charity, education, refinement, modesty, sophistication, elegance

Self image:
A modern day rococo princess. A little lolita, a little hime, a little preppie, but completely me. ❤

Social relations:
local friends, meet-ups, galcir, forums, blogosphere, pen pals, conventions

Entertainment:
meet-ups, movies, books, dramas, fashion show, picnics, GLB, trips, calligraphy, para para, crafting, blogging

Work:
Most anything not hard labor intensive. Laboratory assistant, mental health worker, office worker

Dress:
skirts, blouses, cute shoes, heels, cute purses, jumperskirts, capes, boleros, pearls, shorts, dresses, hair accessories, bows, deco nails, heels, parasols, adorable coats, fabulous sunglasses

Activities/interests:
tea parties, shopping, fashion shows, picnics, conventions, panels, photography, movie reviewing, carriage rides, walks, trips, festivals, caroling, blogging, archery, horse riding,

Habits:
acting proper, following etiquette, buying fashion magazines, checking brand stores, searching Y!Japan, maintaining beauty, crafting

Tastes:
pastel colors, antique items, cute items, sweets, princess-like items, tiaras, pearls, diamonds,

Things I like that are lolita lifestyle are things like high tea, sewing, crafting, going to meet ups, and trying to bring the aesthetic into my everyday life a little although I don't attempt to lolify everything just my bedroom at the moment.

I love things like high tea (doesn't every lolita?) which I had the other day but I'll save that for my next post.

52 week lolita challenge part 2

This time its 5 Movies for lolitas!

I have picked 5, some of them I haven't seen yet but they look like they would be fun to watch.

1) Kamikaze Girls
This is the film everyone mentions first, I have seen it twice.
I won't write out the plot but it features a lolita who loves Baby the Stars Shine Bright and who makes an unlikely friendship with a girl in a motorcycle gang.

2) Mister Rococo
Mr Rococo is a short film about a girl who meets a guy and changes herself from a Lolita into a Lolita wrestler! Its really quite cute and funny
watch it here on YouTube

3) Marie Antionette
If like me you love Rococo inspired lolita then Marie Antionette is a must see. The costumes are beautiful throughout the film.

4) Gothic & Lolita Psycho
I haven't seen this film but I've seen the trailer, it looks like a fun cheesy horror. I would like to watch it after seeing the trailer.
It features a gothic lolita with an armed bulletproof parasol!!

5) X-cross
Another Japanese horror that I haven't seen but it has a sweet lolita serial killer so its going on my to watch list even if it is bad.

Are there any other films you think a lolita should watch?
I'd love to find out about some more.

  52.  How Lolita has changed me
I plan to do the list in order for ease so I don't forget any.
1) 5 pieces that every Lolita wardrobe should have, regardless of style
The first and most important item in any lolita wardrobe should be a good petticoat, an A line one for classic and a cupcake one for sweet. Which petticoat you need will depend on your main style, I have mostly A line petticoats as well as a longer one for my dresses that are below the knee.
Good petticoats can be found on Taobao, Dear Celine and Classical Puppets

The second thing a lolita wardrobe should have is a really good fancy blouse, one that will dress up the plainest of JSKs.
I love Baby the Stars shine Brights blouses, they are so fancy!
I prefer chiffon to cotton and I don't like petter pan collars but the choice of blouses is so much better than it used to be and you can get so many different colours too.
Your choice should depend on your style, so if you like sweet go for an Angelic Pretty one that will coord with most of your dresses.
My personal favourites are these two
ImageImage

Btssb dear juliette and AP melty royal chocolate blouses
The third thing every wardrobe should have is a go to plain non print OP
They are so easy to wear! no need to worry about blouses matching or boleros!
The first brand dress I ever bought was Btssb Trianon OP
Image

Plain OPs are something you can wear again and again and you can change the look with different accessories and tights.

Shoes! every lolita should have a great pair of shoes, again what you pick will depend on your personal style.
I like small ankle boots, they can look cute or elegant depending on the style of them.
I have some Victorian Maiden ones and they go well with my wardrobe

Similar open ankle boots in a more cute style from Btssb

Finally I think every lolita should own a bonnet, I think they suit most people and make an outfit into an OTT one in an instant.
My personal favourite has to be Triple Fortune, sadly its hard to get their bonnets outdide Japan but KeraShop sometimes has them for special reservations
They come in lots of colours so there is one for everyone.
This is mine

So there you have it week 1 of the 52 week challenge complete

Indie brand review: Mooncake Corner

Review: Mooncake Corner

A while ago I ordered some items from Mooncake Corner on facebook
You can find her shop on facebook here

I bought a red cross and earing set and two of her tulle eyebows

Red lace cross earings, I also got a matching necklace.
These were a surprise because they weren't the ones I originally wanted but its probably my fault for not specifying which red crosses I did want. They are nice and will work well with my wardrobe so I'm happy.

The eyebows
I quite like these, I haven't worn them yet but they will be part of my outfit for seeing Kyary Pamyu Pamyu next week.
They are made from soft black tulle with jewels and bows as well as star charms, I am really happy with the quality and they look much nicer irl.

Review:
price: 5/5 the prices are good for handmade items
Quality: 5/5 The quality of the items I received was good and they were well made and I'd be happy to wear them.
communication: 5/5 The owner of Mooncake Corner kept great communication throughout.
Postage/packaging 5/5 no problems, they were delivered by 1st class mail.

I hope you liked my little review

Indie brand review: La Petite Fille

Indie brand review: La Petite Fille

I recently ordered a tulle dress from La Petite Fille to wear with my Cult Party Kei coord for Hyper Japan.

This is the dress I ordered

Here is the link

The stock photo is shown in sax blue which is really nice but not what I wanted, it is available in cream, sax, lilac and black. I was a little worried about ordering a colour without seeing the finished item but I love how its turned out.

La Petite Fille is based in the UK so it didn't take long after ordering for it to arrive and making time was less than a week which I think is excellent for a made to order item.

The dress itself is very light and sheer with bows all over in the colours I requested. The quality is very good and I am very happy with my purchase. In fact I would like to buy another one in black with lavender bows.

The store has lots of little items too and some of her jewellery is adorable.

The prices are affordable and the quality is really nice, I will definitely be ordering again!

Brand focus: Syrup

I've been occasionally looking at Manapyon's blog (which I posted about a while back) and noticed some dresses made from chiffon or organza. They were from a brand called Syrup, however, I couldn't find an online shop until very recently.

They make some nice items that would work with both Cult Party and Fairy Kei aesthetics.
Some of their items look handmade which is always nice and they look easy to wear too, which I think adds to the versatility of outfits you could make with them.

One of their collars <3

This organza dress is probably their signature piece.
Its very sheer and can be worn over just about anything.
Top photo shows Manapyon wearing the dress.

I've also seen a few street snaps with Syrup accessories like this bag.

And lastly a couple of my favourite cat themed items from their collection, I need those cat tights in my life :D
